How to change the way you feel

Life will unavoidable come with the ups and downs. Nothing in nature is constant, yet many times we have that idea that if everything was just right, the way we want them to be. If that state became stable and then our life was like that from then on. We would be completely trouble free.

But that’s just wishful thinking. Notice your day to day life. There are moments that you feel in control and moments you are not. Our life can easily spiral down and get out of hand. When things get out of hand we need to know what to do, to have a strategy.

Epictetus said that “Happiness and freedom begin with a clear understanding of one principle: Some things are within our control, and some things are not”

Let this quote sink in for a little while…

It’s a simple concept but when we spiral down we lose sense of what is truly within our control. We try to control things that we can’t control and we don’t control the things that we can.

When things get out of hand in your life, remember to ask yourself: “What can I control right now?” Then take action to exert your control.
